Race 9 – 1410m – last 600 35.10

Jittery Jack: Spent some energy to get to the front. Then gave a great front running display. Strong win. Rated well and won at good odds, gave nothing a chance coming from behind. Jockey was penalized for overuse of the whip.

Steward’s Report Jittery Jack: Apprentice Liam Riordan pleaded guilty under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 10 occasions prior to the 100 metres. Liam Riordan had his permit to ride in races suspended for a total of eight meetings to commence midnight 12 August 2020 and to expire midnight 20 August 2020 (2 metropolitan, 6 provincial). A fine of $1000 was also imposed. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the total strikes, his guilty plea, record, it was a metropolitan race and that his mount placed 1st.

DOOMBEN: Saturday 8 August 2020 (SOFT 7)

Race 8 – 1050m – last 600 35.30

Niccanova: Ran off his feet early, knocked around a little coming into and early parts of the straight. Stormed home and just missed out carrying 63.5 kg. Big effort considering the weight carried

Steward’s Report Niccanova: Shifted out near the 300m and made contact with PAPA JO and soon afterwards shifted in under pressure and made heavy contact with COOL SEQUENCE.

Race 9 – 1200m – last 600 35.46

Bryan: Had nothing but trouble for most of the race. Was do his best work at the pointy end of the race. Big watch, could find him at good odds next start couple of starts.

Steward’s Report Bryan: Leaving the 1000m L. Tarrant rode vigorously to improve to the inside of JARDIN ROUGE, which was racing three wide and being restrained to a position one off the rail, and soon afterwards BRYAN had to be eased from the heels of JARDIN ROUGE and moved in slightly, tightening the room of DRUMBEAT’S CHOICE, which had to be checked. At a subsequent inquiry stewards believed both runners were attempting to obtain the same position one off the rail and as a result took no further action.

SANDOWN: Wednesday 12 August 2020 (SOFT 7)

Race 3 – 2400m – last 600 35.94

Light Pillar: looked the winner until the last 50m which is not uncommon at Sandown with the steep uphill gradient in the final stages. Just nabbed on the line. Can win a similar race.

Race 6 – 1500m – last 600 35.82

CAULFIELD: Saturday 15 August 2020 (SOFT 6)

Race 8 – 1200m – last 600 34.20

Kings Will Dream: Needed the run, came home well in the final stages. Never looked like winning, but the run will bring him on. Had to find room to stretch out after finding trouble. A forgive run.

Replay:

https://www.racing.com/form/2020-08-15/caulfield/race/8/results#/results

Steward’s Report Kings Will Dream:  Stewards questioned Jye McNeil as to why, approaching the 400 metres, he chose not to follow Savatiano but rather shift out to be behind Streets Of Avalon and Arcadia Queen before then steadying in across the heels of Arcadia Queen near the 300m. Jye McNeil explained that at the time he felt as though Mystic Journey, racing to his outside, was giving ground and he could continue out with free running to the outside of Streets Of Avalon which was his preferred section of the track. He added that in hindsight and after viewing the patrol video with Stewards his best option was to follow Savatiano through.

Race 9 – 1400m – last 600?

Showmanship: Classy display, was 7 lengths off the lead at the 400m mark and still ran over the top. Was the best backed horse all day. Will measure up in better class.

EAGLE FARM: Saturday 15 August 2020 (GOOD 4)

Race 6 – 1200m – last 600 35.20

Acrobatic: Win was better than it looked. Was 3 wide no cover for most of the race and still won with truly little use of the whip. Nice fit horse that was impressive at odds at good odds.

Steward’s Report Acrobatic: Raced three wide without cover throughout

CRANBOURNE: Sunday 16 August 2020 (HEAVY 8)

Race 4 – 1200m – last 600?

Mozzie Monster: First start that treated the field with contempt, ever when it travelled wide. Won easily. Was backed from $6.50 into $2.00. John Sadler is an astute trainer. Went through the heavy ground with ease. I feel he has city class painted all over him. Went to the line with his ears pricked. Well educated. Follow with confidence.
