Who’s Racing This Week?

An interesting day last Saturday.  As I thought, WINX once again showed her complete dominance in the Chipping Norton Stakes.  But did you happen to notice who ran second?  None other than LASQUATI SPIRIT, the winner of the OAKS in the spring carnival who paid a jaw dropping $289 on Betfair for that win.  She gave punters lots of value again on Saturday paying $15.20 on the tote for the place.  Obviously she has more ability than people give her credit for.  Don’t let her under your guard.
Something to think about when doing the form, here’s a good example of the “second up” syndrome.  In Race 1 at Caulfield, SECOND BULLET had huge backing for a horse that has never won second up (seven starts, no wins).  And he ran true to form as usual and didn’t even run a place.  Following the money is not always a good idea – this is how bookmakers make their money!
And, of course, it was Blue Diamond Stakes day at Caulfield.  Very happy with the members selections – tipped in 7 races for 7 winners, including CATCHY in the race itself.  Craig Williams had the opportunity to ride 4 other horses in the race, all with winning form, and chose to stay with CATCHY.  Just shows good jockeys know good horses.
For those members following the Dutch Betting Strategy, overall profit for the day was $114.60.  This was excluding the returns for Race 4 at Caulfield.  There was a late scratching -FUYRYK – and as this was the favourite the market needs adjusting to allow for this impact on the pool.  If you would like to know more about this, just let us know.
Full results for Saturday can be checked out by CLICKING HERE.   And for the free tips on Saturday:
  • CAULFIELD R6 H9 HUMIDOR – 2nd to STRATUM STAR
  • CAULFIELD R9 H2  SILENT SEDITION – 1ST
  • BEST OUTSIDER:  CAULFIELD  R3  H11  MISS STRATHALLAN – recommended to back each way – 4TH.
For our members, they also had DIXIE BLOSSOM as a best bet.
Last week, I put MA JONES up as a Black Booker, and she will be running on Wednesday at SANDOWN over 1600m,  She is down in class, and the “rocking horse man” is riding her.  Who is the rocking horse man you might ask?  This is my nickname for Damian Lane at the moment cos he could win on a rocking horse in his current form!
Have you ever thought about what is the difference between a gambler and a punter?  For me, I think that  punting, not gambling, offers by far the greater opportunity of returns. Punting is an investment driven by knowledge, not chance, as is the poorer relation, gambling.  Read more about this now…..
Small fields tomorrow so lots of work to do today!
Cheers and happy punting!
